January the 10th: Today is only the 3rd day of our holidays and we are already doing extreme sports  – moped tour:) We decided to visit a place that is on cover of many travel books – Ao Phang Nga National Park in Phang Nga Bay:

In our family I am the one with motorbike driving license. The site of me driving and Carmine in the back was amusing for many 😉 The trip from Mai Khao Beach to Phang Nga Bay on moped took us little longer than 1 hour.

We started the day quite late – the previous night I couldn’t fall asleep until 3 (still struggling with jet lag), so we arrived to the place only at 13. Also we didn’t quite find the pier, which helped us a lot at the end, because in the middle of nowhere we found an older boat to rent for 1500 BHT, which is much less than what was described e.g. on TripAdvisor if going to the main gateway to Phang Nga Bay. So we started the boat trip.

The main attraction is so called “James Bond Island” – Khao Phing  Kan – 20 metres high limestone rock in the sea, which featured in the 007 movie The Man with the Golden Gun (it is there for 3 minutes really… but enough to make it a big tourist attraction:)

There is an entrance fee of 300 BHT just to step on the island, so we didn’t do it… and instead took thousands of pictures from the boat.

We saw lots of islands, limestone, caves, collapsed cave systems, birds, trees, some more islands…some more caves…

After about 3,5 hours we headed back to Pukhet and on the way back we stopped at Sarasin Bridge – the first bridge built that linked Phuket Island to the mainland of Phang Nga Province. Named after a Thai Chinese politician, it is a 700m  long bridge that was built in 1967 to replace the ferry which was then the only connection to the mainland.

The bridge itself is interesting to see, but what made our experience really beautiful, was watching the sunset from the bridge – it offers many great scenic spots. The pictures are almost too cheesy and postcard-like, but I guess for honeymoon that is alright 😉

The best ending of the visit was dinner in an excellent seafood restaurant Thanoon Seafood on the Phang Nga side – WOW, the best dinner we have had in Thailand so far.

I super loved my Pad Thai and Yellow Spicy Soup with Prawns and Coconut Milk. But what I am completely crazy about is the fresh coconut! It is super refreshing, healthy, you can drink it, eat it, spend time while trying to get the pulp out… and costs 1 Euro:)

It seems that Carmine has some form of heat stroke, he fell asleep soon after our return. I am enjoying again my jet leg, fully awake, full of beans, fooling around with WordPress – you see the result:)  Good night!
